The Rochester Public Library will host an upcoming presentation by retired U.S. diplomat David K. Wessel. The event will take place at the library, located at 65 South Main Street, on Wednesday, April 10, at 6:00 pm.
During the presentation, Wessel will read from his new novel and delve into the thought-provoking subject of ‘Ordinary Germans’ and their response to Hitler’s rise to power in Nazi Germany.
His book, Choosing Sides, narrates the gripping story of his own family’s experience amidst the tumult of Nazi rule and the difficult choices they faced. Wessel draws on fifty years of study and research, exploring how the Weimar Republic influenced the lives of everyday Germans.
A distinguished member of various historical and literary associations, including the American Historical Association and the Historical Novel Writers Association, Wessel brings a wealth of knowledge and insight to his work.
Following the presentation, he will engage with the audience, inviting questions and comments on the themes of tyranny and resistance during the interwar period.
