There’s still time to show your appreciation for the Rochester Police Department as National Thank a Police Officer Day approaches on September 21, 2024. Thank a Rochester Cop, a volunteer-run committee, is finalizing this year’s efforts to honor local law enforcement officers.
The public can help by visiting one of the three “decoration stations” or pick-up locations around the city, where supplies are available to help “paint the city blue” during the month of September. Stop in during regular business hours at one of the following locations: Holy Rosary Credit Union (Brock Street), the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce (South Main Street), or Granite Steak & Grill (Route 11). These supplies are available free of charge, but donations are gratefully accepted.
In addition to decorating a home or business, community members and children are encouraged to show their support for the Rochester Police Department by writing a thank you note to officers. There are multiple designated thank-you card stations located throughout the city. Thank-you cards can be found at Potter’s House Bakery & Café, the cafeteria at Frisbie Memorial Hospital, the Rochester Public Library, and Market Basket at The Ridge Marketplace, as well as the supply pick-up locations mentioned above. Members of the Thank a Rochester Cop committee will deliver the thank-you cards, along with gift bags, to the officers on National Thank a Police Officer Day.
Profile Bank is generously underwriting all activities to recognize and honor the Rochester Police Department this year. For a list of other major sponsors and more information, please visit www.thankarc.com or follow us on Facebook at facebook.com/ThankARochesterCop.
