The Rochester Opera House is thrilled to announce a special performance by multi-GRAMMY nominee Shemekia Copeland, one of the most powerful voices in contemporary blues, soul, and Americana music.
Copeland, described by The Washington Post as “the greatest blues singer of her generation,” will take the stage on Friday, September 27 (8:00 pm) to deliver a night of captivating music and storytelling.
Copeland, winner of the 2021 Blues Music Award for B.B. King Entertainer Of The Year, is known for her bold and fearless performances. Her latest album, Done Come Too Far, continues the narrative she began in her previous releases, confronting social issues while also showcasing her trademark humor and energy. NPR Music praises her voice for its “punchy defiance and potent conviction,” while Living Blues describes her performances as a powerful blend of “hope and ferocity.”
This performance is set to be a memorable evening, with Copeland delivering songs from her extensive catalog, including tracks from her new album that reflect her experiences as a Black woman, mother, and artist in America today.
Tickets are now available through the Rochester Opera House Box Office at (603) 335-1992 or online. Visit www.rochesteroperahouse.com for more information.
