The City of Rochester is announcing the temporary closure of the former Ben Franklin lot, located at the corner of Wakefield Street and Union Street, starting the week of June 5.
This closure, lasting for the duration of the construction, will facilitate the refurbishment of the area into a new Municipal Lot designed to address downtown parking needs.
The project includes electrical work and trenching for new light poles, which is expected to take several weeks. Repaving and striping of the lot is tentatively scheduled to occur in July.
During construction, the building on the property will be further secured. For safety reasons, entry and parking on the property will be strictly prohibited throughout the construction period.
